Participatory Process

The Simón Ruiz Park emerged from a joint project with the National Association of Municipalities and Intendancies of Costa Rica, the Municipal Center for Social Urbanism, and the Office of Antinarcotics, Security, and Justice Affairs of the U.S. Embassy in Costa Rica to develop: "Public Space Recovery Projects using participatory design methodologies and social urbanism."

The Palmares project has a particularity, as it is a Historical and Architectural Heritage of Costa Rica, under the category of monument. The property known as "Parque Central Simón Ruiz Elizondo and Kiosk of the City of Palmares" Nº 42494-C; therefore, it was a coordinated effort between these institutions in relation to the Municipality of Golfito, the Center for Research and Conservation of Cultural Heritage, and the Palmares community.

Site and Landscape Design

The landscape proposal for Simón Ruiz Park aims to characterize the space through various types of gardens with native vegetation. The landscape design was carried out by the office Arquitectura+Paisaje, led by landscape architect Alberto Negrini.

Branding

It aims to create a logo and representative brand elements for the park, as well as showcase ways to apply the brand within the canton and promote the park. The identity was created by André Kelso.
